Architect has plan

New president of Norwich's FGBMFI, Michael Cant
Norwich based architect Michael Cant is building on solid foundations as he has taken over from Kevin Gotts as president of Norwich's Full Gospel Business Men's Fellowship International (FGBMFI) chapter. Michael, aged 43, is no stranger to the work of the FGBMFI. Some 24 years ago while at Dundee University, his landlady invited him to a local dinner where he became a committed Christian and a chapter member.
Michael's childhood was spent in the Midlands, and after graduating he came to Norfolk to live with his mother in Mundesley. After some years he moved to Norwich to be closer to work, friends and church. He currently works for NPS Property Consultants Ltd.
His faith is shared with his wife Bernadette, a GP. Their faith has been challenged, yet they still speak of the "many times God's interaction was evident in our lives".
One of the most dramatic times was when their first child, Jonathan was born prematurely in August 1994, weighing just 2lbs 6ozs.
After surviving a brain bleed, liver failure and a deep coma, his doctors said to Michael and Bernadette: "You prayed for a miracle and you got one." Today Jonathan is a healthy 10 year old.
Michael is active at the Potters House Christian Centre where he has been a Bible study leader, drama leader and now works within the children's ministry team.
Michael is keen to build on what FGBMFI has done for him, "It brought my Christianity to life, and my desire is to see others discover and come into a powerful living relationship with Jesus Christ."
Norwich FGBMFI group is a fellowship of businessmen from across all professions, trades and Christian backgrounds.
They meet and hold monthly lunches and dinners where both men and women are invited.
At a recent dinner an American speaker, Charlie Goodman, who had come over to the UK for three months to start new FGBMFI chapters, was so impressed by Good News for Norwich that he picked up a supply to take back home.

Living Water milestone is marked with five-day festival

East Anglia's best known large Christian event, Living Water, is celebrating reaching double figures with its five-day festival this summer near Norwich and a theme of "The God Who Speaks Today".
The festival, from August 6 to 10, has a wide range of speakers to suit all tastes and with activities to meet the needs of all ages from crèche, through children and young people to senior citizens, every age is catered for.
Speakers include the family teams of Charlie and Anita Cleverly for the morning Bible Study sessions and Rob and Marion White with Lynn Swart, David Carr and Martin Down completing the team.
The Cleverlys worked in Paris for ten years and saw the church there grow from 40 to 400. They are now at St Aldgate's in Oxford. Lynn Swart is from South Africa and worked through the difficult times of the apartheid years. She also has a testimony of miraculous healing which gives her sensitivity in worship and an effective prophetic ministry.
But there's more to Living Water than the speakers. Gareth Robinson of St Thomas' Sheffield, will lead the adult worship. There is a full supporting
array of seminars on all sorts of topics and subjects of contemporary issues. The Market Place provides a forum for Christian agencies to demonstrate their activities and ministry.
Jim Bailey, the world's only singing escapologist, will provide quality, creative family entertainment, and there is a programme of After Hours entertainment.
The Children and Young People's Venues give the opportunity for each age group to engage in joyful, meaningful worship relative to their needs and Living Water Radio will once again broadcast the event across the site and to greater Norwich.
Day visitors are also very welcome at the Norfolk Showground venue. Reflecting on the theme for 2005 of "The God Who Speaks Today", Living Water worship leader John Watts said: "It is so important because it's a place where God can speak to the Church as a whole."
Ian Savory, adult venue leader said: "Living Water is still the largest gathering of its kind in East Anglia. And the fruit of it is still resourcing the work of the kingdom in the area."
